Grand Bazaar & Spice Market

Bazaars are a highlight of daily local life and reflect city culture. The Grand Bazaar and the Spice Market are the two most popular bazaars in Istanbul.

The Grand Bazaar is one of the largest and oldest covered markets in the world, with 61 covered streets and over 3,000 shops attracting 250,000Ė400,000 visitors each day. The bazaar was built after the conquest of Istanbul, its size increasing over the centuries with the addition of new sections and inns.

Today itís a heaven for shoppers with its vast array of traditional shops and goods. There are thousands of items you can find and buy to suit your interests, or you can just enjoy local people and Turkish hospitality. Itís a favorite destination thanks to its location, architecture, history, and fame.

The Grand Bazaar mainly houses shops selling gold, jewelry, textiles, and leather. The Spice Market of course sells spices and such things, but other foods too.
